Going on the Offensive
Today, SOE implemented a spam filter in Everquest II. I don’t think much else needs to be said to those of you who play Everquest II.
Doesn’t sound exciting to you? You must not be from Everquest II, then. Everquest II, like many other MMORPGs, is plagued by a myriad of plat farmers and spammers from all around the world, otherwise known as China. The difference is, SOE actually did something about it. Yes, SOE did something good. *Waves hands* SOE is not the Grinch coming to steal your Christmas presents. Let that sink in.
Anyway, the implications of this spam filter are huge. Perhaps this will pressure other MMO companies into taking such actions, improving MMOs for all? Ah, well, you never know these days…

When I saw that this morning in the update notes I did a happy dance!
It’s been working perfectly for me, so far. It hasn’t failed me once by missing a spammer message or by accidentally blocking a legit message.
Two thumbs up to SOE!
As much as people love to complain about SOE, they do a lot of things right. Would love to see this implemented in other MMOs. Great idea.
You haven’t had anything to say in a long time.
Yes, unfortunately I’ve been quite busy lately. The simple proposition of updating this blog daily is far out of my reach now, unfortunately. Heck, I even declined an invitation to a certain beta, if that’s telling!
Anyway, I do apologize. I wasn’t even aware that anybody was interested in reading this. Either way, you have my apologies, and heck, you never know–I may be able to pick this up again later down the road! Unfortunately, that time is not now.
Somehow i missed the point. Probably lost in translation
Anyway … nice blog to visit.
cheers, Satirically.
Did you just abandon the blog?
Yeah, pretty much. I’m tempted to write a post or two because WordPress is such a neat little program, but the main problem would be that I don’t play computer games anymore. :p
